Glentress Forest
Part of the renowned 7Stanes network, Glentress Forest is a must for mountain bikers. The trail centre offers everything from easy green routes for beginners, to technical orange trails for those looking for a challenge. For the daredevils, the black route delivers 18 miles of steady climbs and exhilarating descents.
Prefer a calmer day out? The Glrentress Forest Loop is perfect. Weaving through towering trees, it offers peaceful cucling, wildlife-spotting, and sweeping views across the Tweed Valley. Best of all, Glentress is only a 5-minute – or 10-minute cycle – from both Peebles Hydro Hotel and The Park Hotel.
Cademuir Circuit
The Cademuir Circuit is an easygoing 8-mile ride which wraps around Cademuir Hill, just south of Peebles. Expect open countryside, rolling hills, and rewarding views overlooking Peebles and the Dunslair Hills from the summit. The return leg drops down towards Kirkton Manor, before following a peaceful riverside path back into town, making it a great choice for all abilities.
Peebles to Eddleston
Heading north from Peebles, a newly developed multi-use path traces the river all the way to Eddleston. This 8.8-mile route is mostly flat, making it ideal for a leisurely ride. Along the way, you’ll pass restored wetland areas, a hutting community, and the remarkable Great Polish Map of Scotland at Barony Castle – a unique stop worth exploring.
These routes are just the beginning. The Scottish Borders are packed with trails, tracks and quiet roads waiting to be discovered, each showcasing a different side of this beautiful part of Scotland.
